I want to assure you all that this last change is neither my choice nor is it a bad thing. Creative Memories has been struggling for the several years now and in April of this year, they filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy for the second time since 2008. The people in charge of the company have decided that the only way to survive is to create a new company that doesn’t focus on scrapbooking, but instead caters to getting people to simply put photos in albums. While I do support the mission of people preserving their memories for future generations, I also recognize that people are different. We use different techniques in our creations and we all have different reasons for creating. Since I do not feel that the new company will have room for my belief system, I will not be carrying on with the new company if it actually debuts as promised, later this fall.
I have, instead, found new suppliers for our crafting needs. Beginning with the August Crop, I will be taking pre-orders for the latest CHA releases from all of our favorite companies. As time goes on, I will be opening an online store, adding more services to our crops (how does having your 12x12 layouts scanned and digitally archived sound to you?) and adding new tools to the tool table. I also hope to have continued support for the current Creative Memories software products.
I am not going to lie to you. While I am excited about the venture and all of its possibilities, I am sad and angry that the people running Creative Memories made choices that are resulting in the company that has been a part of my identity for so long to close. This was a painful thing to be a part of, and I ask for your continued support as Creative Memories winds up their operations and I get the new store underway.
Thanks for all of your support and love.
Liz
